Use of School Sport Funding at St John’s
The Government have given Schools additional funding for PE and School Sport to improve the provision and experience of PE and Sport within schools.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can onlybe spent on provision for PE and sport in schools. We will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils progress and participation in PE and School Sport. As part of school inspections, Ofsted will want to know the impact and use of this funding.
All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £8000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil.

Use of the funding
We have decided, with agreement of the Governors, to invest the School Sport funding in a sustainable manner with the aim that our staff will be more confident and competent in delivering high quality PE for our children.
We have been working with specialist dance teachers who have worked alongside teachers and children to support and model the delivery of dance lessons to ensure high quality lessons. We are also going to be supported in developing a refreshed scheme of work across the school.
We will use the funding to provide opportunities for staff to be released to attend relevant professional development in PE and Sport. We will also try to give children opportunities to compete against each other and also give the more able children more chances to participate in competitions and tournaments.
Governors and Teachers are meeting regularly to evaluate the impact of the funding. The funding will also be reviewed as part of the schools Self-evaluation
We will constantly look at how we can use the funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport delivered in school and how it can encourage children to lead healthy and active lifestyles.
The school will be monitoring the quality of lessons and supporting any areas of development identified. We will be looking at the impact of professional development in these lessons as well. Teachers are assessing children in lessons and at the end of units of work in line with the school policy. Children are also being given the opportunity to give their opinions and views on PE and sport in school.
We will monitor the levels of children participating in sporting activities in and out of school and also review results of the annual Children’s Survey to see the wider impact of PE.
