Summer term has arrived! Where has the year gone!

We had a really busy Spring term which ended with a fantastic performance of Wind in the Willows.  The children learnt their lines brilliantly and put on three amazing shows for the school and parents.

This half term, Year 5 will be looking at Space and the Solar System in our science lessons as well as Inspirational Women throughout history.  Children will be learning all about the suffragette movement, Emilia Earhart, Rosa Parks and the artwork of Frida Kahlo.

For the first 3 weeks of the term our homework focus will be space.  Please see the knowledge organiser below to learn some interesting facts all about space.

Homework will be set every Friday and should be handed in on the following Wednesday.  If homework is not completed, then the children will be asked to complete it during break time on the day of hand in. Homework consists of:

  • Ideally children should read or be read to 5 times a week.  However, we expect this to be achieved at least 3 times a week with comments recorded in the children’s reading records.
  • Children must learn the spellings set by their class teacher ready to be tested the following week
  • Children must complete a short Maths activity (30 minutes)

All of the homework set can be found by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page
