GB athlete and 3000m Steeplechase British Champion Iona Lake visited St. John’s last week. She spent time with classes discussing her grueling training regime and sharing her journey to get to the level she competes at today.
Her visit to the school not only helped to raise the aspirations of our young people but also inspired them to chase their dreams and never give up.
During the day the children got to take part in question and answer sessions with Iona as well as cross country and running workshops. See below for a few photographs from the day.
On Thursday 26th April 2017 St Johns hosted their tenth annual Old Folks Tea Party. This event is organised by Mrs Ann Roberts who works very hard to invite as many members of the community to the school to join us for an afternoon of cake, tea and excellent company. The Year 5 and Year 6 pupils join our guests and share an afternoon of conversation, laughs and fun. This year we had in excess of 65 people attend and the event was an outstanding success. It was a delight to watch two different groups from our community work together and enjoy one another’s company! A massive thank you to everyone involved, including all of our very supportive volunteers who make the event possible and a very special thank you to Mrs Roberts for making this event possible.
Thank you to everyone who attended Sports Day. As always it was a huge success and a massive well done to all pupils for excellent sportsmanship and hard work. An especially big congratulations to Bader for winning overall. Thank you to Miss Sewell for her first official ‘Sporting event’ as PE leader, a brilliant job. Also a massive thank you to SJSA for the BBQ, refreshments and raffle which raised approximately £450.00, it would not have been the same without those refreshments!
