The children in Year 5 had an exciting start to the term with a trip to see the pantomime Peter Pan at the Norwich Theatre Royal. All the children had a great time and were beautifully well behaved. To link in with this event, we did some work relating to Peter Pan in class. In Literacy, the children listened to early parts of the story by JM Barrie, looked at character profiles, came up with arguments for or against visiting Neverland and did some drama linked to this using the conscience alley method. Some children also acted out the story using card puppets.
In Science we looked at shadows and light. The children bought in cereal boxes from home and with tracing paper made their own shadow puppet theatres. They had fun making a variety of shadow puppets and tested them out using their theatres and torches.
